A gummy supplement is a cooked confection carrying a dose. That single fact explains almost every difficulty in the category: the manufacturing process applies heat, moisture and time to ingredients that are damaged by heat, moisture and time. Everything a good gummy manufacturer does is an attempt to protect the active while still producing something a customer wants to eat every morning.
Production runs in three technical stages, and a failure in any one of them shows up as an under-potent lot, a sticky fused block in the bottle, or a flavor customers abandon after one jar.
Step 1
Sugar, glucose syrup (or an allulose/isomalt sugar-free system) and water are cooked to a target solids percentage, then gelatin or pectin is hydrated in. Cook temperature and final Brix decide texture, water activity and shelf life before a single active is added.
Step 2
Actives, acids, colors and flavors are added at the lowest temperature the slurry allows — heat destroys vitamins and probiotics. The slurry is then deposited into starch moulds or silicone at a controlled shot weight, which is what makes each gummy carry the same dose.
Step 3
Gummies cure in a humidity-controlled drying room for 24–72 hours, then get de-moulded, oiled, sanded or sour-coated, metal-detected and packed into bottles or pouches with desiccant — with potency and water-activity testing confirming the lot.
Many companies marketed as "gummy manufacturers" are in fact re-labelers: they buy finished bulk gummies from a third party and bottle them under your brand. That is a legitimate business, but the base, the flavor, the overage and the sweetener system are all fixed — so you cannot differentiate, and any potency question has to travel back up a supply chain you do not control. A true manufacturer owns the cook, the deposit and the curing room, and can therefore change a spec when your product needs it.

Gummies are cooked. Vitamin C, B vitamins, probiotics and many botanicals degrade in heat and keep degrading on the shelf. A real manufacturer models an overage from stability data so the label is still true at expiry — not just on the day it was deposited.
